How to change Logitech webcam settings on a Mac

01Why it's confusing

A Logitech webcam works on a Mac the moment you plug it in. Changing how it looks is another matter. System Settings has no panel for a USB webcam's exposure, focus, or white balance. The video effects in the menu bar's Video menu, like Portrait and Studio Light, don't change the camera's own settings.

Logitech has shipped several Mac apps over the years, and older forum posts and videos still point to apps Logitech has since replaced. Which app fits now depends on your model.

02What Logitech's apps offer

Here is what Logitech's own pages say, checked in September 2026:

• Logi Tune is free for Windows and macOS and needs macOS 13 or later. Its supported webcams include the Brio, Brio 500, 501, and 505, MX Brio, C920, C922, and StreamCam. It covers brightness, contrast, zoom, and field of view, among other settings.
• Logi Options+ is Logitech's app for its mice and keyboards, and it also handles supported webcams such as the Brio and MX Brio. It needs macOS 14 or later. Logitech lists field of view, zoom, shutter speed, ISO, HDR, color temperature, and autofocus among its webcam controls.
• G HUB is Logitech's app for gaming gear, and Logitech suggests it if you stream games. Its supported webcams include the C920, C922, StreamCam, Brio, and Brio 500, 501, and 505.
• Camera Settings, the older app, is no longer supported. Logitech points to Logi Tune instead.
• Logitech Capture lists macOS 10.14, 10.15, and macOS 11 on Intel Macs as its system requirements. It does not list newer macOS versions or Apple silicon.

If one of these covers your camera and does what you need, you may not need anything else. People tend to look further when they use cameras from more than one brand, want presets that switch on their own, or want a virtual camera in the same app.

03Change Logitech settings with Webcam Works

1. Install and pick the cameraGet Webcam Works from the Mac App Store. It needs macOS 15.6 or later, and the 14-day trial needs no account. Open it and choose your Logitech webcam from Cameras at the top of the sidebar.
2. Set the formatIn Format, choose a resolution and frame rate. The list comes from the camera. If you want HDR on a supported Brio, stay at 30 fps or lower.
3. Set exposure and colorOn the Exposure card, set Auto exposure to Off, Camera AE, or Smart AE. With Auto exposure Off, raise Exposure time before Gain. Set White Balance or leave it on Auto. On supported Brio models, turn on HDR when a bright window is behind you.
4. Frame the shotOn the Framing card, supported Brio models show Field of view with 90°, 78°, and 65°. The preview restarts for a moment when you switch. Zoom and Position handle finer framing.
5. Set focus and imageOn the Focus card, turn off Auto if the lens hunts when your hands move. On the Image card, adjust Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, and Sharpness, and set Anti-flicker to 60 Hz in the US or 50 Hz in most of Europe.
6. Save a presetIn Presets, click New from current and name it. These are settings on the camera itself, so Zoom, Meet, Teams, and FaceTime see them without picking a different camera.

04Which controls each model gets

Webcam Works shows a control only when the camera reports it. The Logitech webcams named here are standard UVC cameras, so the usual set is there: brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, white balance, exposure, gain, and anti-flicker, plus focus and zoom on models that have them.

• Brio (the original 4K model) and Brio 4K Stream Edition: standard controls, plus Field of view and HDR.
• Brio 505: standard controls, plus Field of view and HDR.
• Brio 500, Brio 501, and MX Brio: standard controls, plus Field of view. HDR is not mapped for these models.
• C920 and C922: standard controls. The HD Pro Webcam C920 can reset exposure when video starts, so Webcam Works writes your values again right after it starts the camera's video.
• Other Logitech USB webcams: the standard controls they report.

On the Brio models with HDR, the HDR switch takes the place of Backlight compensation, because the camera uses that control for HDR. HDR works at up to 30 fps. At 60 fps the switch is unavailable, and if you had it on, Webcam Works turns it back on when you go back to 30 fps or lower.

Webcam Works is not made by or affiliated with Logitech. It doesn't offer Logitech-only features such as RightSight auto-framing or Show Mode, and it doesn't update camera firmware. For those, use Logitech's app.

05Tips

• Change each setting in one place. Logitech's apps and Webcam Works write to the same controls on the camera, so whichever changed a setting last wins.
• Open Webcam Works before your meeting app. Some apps push their own camera settings at launch.
• Make one preset per room or time of day, like Daylight and Evening. Presets store HDR along with the other controls.
• Field of view isn't part of a preset. Webcam Works remembers the last one you picked for each camera and sets it again each time it connects to the camera.
• Schedule can apply a preset while a certain app is in front or during a time window you set.
